System/Software Integrator
Overview
This position is for an experienced individual to install, configure and integrate software systems. The installation and integration of software that has previously operated in isolation provides challenges at a technical level when trying to integrate these systems. For example, Vendor A has submitted a WebLogic enterprise application. Vendor B has done the same. These all work well on their own WebLogic instance but, when co-deployed, have undesirable interactions. The ability to determine whether the issues are in the software or in the WebLogic configuration will be required.
The candidate*s ability to troubleshoot these types of issues is complicated further due to the requirement of replicating the installation process. Therefore attention to detail and thorough documentation is a key ingredient to the overall success of the program.
Skills
Platforms
Required: System administration skills of Solaris, Linux, and/or Windows platforms.
Application Knowledge
Required: Deploying enterprise application on WebLogic, WebSphere, and JBoss.
Configuration experience with these servers.
Desired: Ability to troubleshoot HTML, JSP, JavaScript, and Web Service application.
Languages / Scripting / Databases
Required: Ability to write basic scripts using shell scripting or Perl.
Desired: Ability to troubleshoot applications written in Java, C, C++, Visual Basic, and other languages.
Desired: Familiarity with Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server.
Networking
Required: Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
Desired: Experience with SNMP, NFS, SMB, DHCP, DNS.
Personality
Candidate must excel at troubleshooting and solving hard problems; must have system administration skills with methodical debugging techniques and the ability to troubleshoot issues with good engineering rigor. This position is not a software development position.
